BACOLOD City Councilor Carl Lopez with his fellow Councilor Homer Bais sailed the patrol boat given by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) last Saturday at the shores of Bacolod to test its sea worthiness prior to its turn over to the Bantay Dagat in January next year.

There have been incidences of illegal fishing such as dynamite fishing and use of huge fish nets that scrape the corrals and cause damage the breeding grounds of fishes. 

The mayor stressed that certain needs must be addressed “or else we will just wake up one day that there are no more fishes to catch in the shores of Bacolod.”
