Rabbits, like dogs and cats, deserve love and care.
And now they have a place to call their own.

Saturday, the Bunny Bunch, a Southern California rescue group, will open an adoption and education center in Fountain Valley.

The center's grand opening will feature door prizes, a silent auction, refreshments, and rabbits, chinchillas and guinea pigs available for adoption.

According to Bunny Bunch founder Caroline Charland, the center is "one of a kind in O.C." The group opened the Burrow, its first adoption and education center, in Montclair in 2007, and has had "such success at finding homes, we wanted to do the same in O.C.," Charland said in an email.

Rabbits find their way to the group via shelters that have to euthanize because of lack of space. The Bunny Bunch provides food, shelter and veterinary care – all rabbits are spayed and neutered before placement – and looks for homes via its website, bunnybunch.org, and on its Facebook page.

The facility also will provide bunny daycare, bunny introductions and bunny sitting. Grooming and nail trims also are available.

The facility's Bunny Bunch Boutique has items for rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas, including treats, toys, houses and Bunny Bunch Blend hay.
